What this tool helps you find
Enter each value and its weight. Values with larger weights influence the result more; all weights should use the same scale.
Formula
Weighted average = sum(value × weight) ÷ sum(weights).
Worked example
Scores 80 and 90 weighted 1 and 3 average to 87.5.
Common mistake
A weight describes how much a value counts, not another score to average. Rows with zero weight should not affect the average.
When to use it
Combine assignment scores with different grading weights or summarize measurements with different importance.
Questions and answers
Can weights be percentages?
Yes, as long as the weights are on a consistent scale.
Can weights be zero?
Zero weight excludes a row from the average; the total weight must be above zero.
