What this tool helps you find

Enter the GPA and total credits for each semester. The calculator weights each semester by its credit load before finding the cumulative average.

Formula

CGPA = sum(semester GPA × semester credits) ÷ total credits.

Worked example

A 3.5 GPA over 15 credits and 4.0 over 15 credits gives a 3.75 CGPA.

Common mistake

Do not average semester GPAs equally unless each semester has the same number of credits. Use the total credits that your institution counts toward CGPA.

When to use it

Combine completed terms or check how a new semester may affect a cumulative GPA.
