What this tool helps you find

Choose how often the quoted amount is earned, then set paid work hours, days, and weeks. The calculator converts gross pay to common time periods using that schedule.

Formula

Annual gross pay = hourly rate × hours per week × working weeks per year; weekly, monthly, or annual amounts are converted using the selected pay period.

Worked example

At $25 per hour for 40 hours and 52 weeks, annual gross pay is $52,000.

Common mistake

A year does not always contain 52 paid working weeks. Adjust the weeks field for unpaid leave, and remember this estimate does not subtract tax or benefits.

When to use it

Compare a job offer stated hourly with another offer stated annually, or estimate gross pay over a month.

Questions and answers

Is this take-home pay?

No. This is a gross pay estimate before taxes, benefits, or deductions.

How is monthly pay estimated?

Annual gross pay is divided by 12; actual pay schedules can differ.
